Now that your little guy or gal is in the 1 to 2-year-old stage, feeding time takes on a whole new form than before. Whereas you once were the primary provider of your bundle of joy’s tasty treats, he or she is now able to take over these duties. Of course, there is bound to be a mess or two made while your little one learns how to master this new skill, but that is part of what makes these pictures so fun!
Feeling Oh So Satisfied
As with any picture, capturing that perfect expression at the perfect time is the key to creating a memorable photo. This is where the invention of digital cameras certainly comes in handy because you can snap dozens of photos at a time at minimal costs - one of them is bound to have snapped at just the right time! The look of satisfied pride on this little guy’s face as he helps himself to one more bite of crackers is simply adorable.
Who Needs Utensils?
Of course, getting your little guy or gal used to the idea of using utensils can sometimes be a bit of a challenge. After all, it is certainly far easier to grab a handful of those tasty vittles and to shove them in your mouth than it is to use a fork, right? As the picture below shows, this must be true.
Well, it may be easier for this little guy to eat with his hands, but it looks like his parents have quite the mess to clean up as the cake will undoubtedly end up in his hair before those little fingers get cleaned!
Look Ma! No More Mushy Foods!
Taking the step from mushy baby foods to solid foods is a reason to celebrate in your little one’s life, even if he takes on more than he can “chew.” The photo below of a little boy as he tries to tackle an apple is truly adorable. Will he be able to work his way through that tough skin and get to the tasty apple center?
I Did It My Way
Kids also have a tendency to create their own fun and unusual ways to eat their food - often in ways we never thought of. As this little girl demonstrates, it is far easier to keep track of your black olives when you simply stick them to your fingers. You don’t have to worry about them rolling away, that’s for sure!
I Can Do It!
Finally, after all of that hard work and dedication, your little one finally figures out how to work his hands, his utensils and his mouth together in order to take that glorious bite of food. Sure, he may still fall back on his hands now and again to help scoop the food onto the spoon or to pick up the pieces that managed to slip off, but at least he has the right idea now!
When you go back and compare the photos of your 1 to 2-year-old finally eating on his or her own to those pictures you took when you were the one doing the feeding, you will be simply amazed by the growth that you see. Not only have your little one’s facial features started to change and to mature already, so has his or her fine motor skills - which is demonstrated by his or her control over utensils. This is truly a milestone for your child, so be certain to capture plenty of it on film so you can treasure it always!
