Capturing Your Child’s Precious Life Stages in Photos
As a proud parent, you undoubtedly want to capture every precious moment in your child’s life. While there are bound to be a few special moments that pass by when a camera is not close at hand, you can increase your chances of creating the perfect memory album or scrapbook if you make certain to bring a camera along during some of your child’s most important moments.
In the weeks to come this series titled “Capturing your Child’s Precious Life Stages in Photos”, we will explore the highlights of a child’s life from birth through to the age of seven. In addition, we will discuss how to best capture these moments and why these moments are so special for you and your child. I’m personally inspired by great baby photographers like Anne Geddes and illustrators like Amy Meyer Allen. Who inspires your child photography?
Here’s a brief overview of what you can expect from this series:
Capturing Special Moments from Birth to One
The first year of your child’s life is one that is filled with amazing changes. The growth your child experiences during this first year will astound you. Not only will your baby’s size change dramatically, so will his or her understanding of the great big world. Therefore, you want to be certain to capture each life stage you encounter during your baby’s first year of life. Some of these include:
Not only will these photographic moments help document your baby’s growth, they will be certain to garner plenty of oohs and ahhs as well!
Capturing Special Moments from One to Two
Your child may have grown at an astounding rate from birth to one-year-old, but it is during his or her second year that your child will begin to make the transition from baby to toddler. As such, there are several exciting moments to be captured on film during this year. These include:
Not only do these moments make for great photographic moments, they are also important developmental milestones for your child to reach at this age.
Capturing Special Moments from Two to Three
Once your child reaches this age, he or she is officially a toddler. Not only will your child be walking, he or she will be getting into everything he or she possibly can. Therefore, some moments you will want to capture at this time include:
Your child is gaining physical strength and learning how to interact with others and the great big world that is all around - be sure to capture these special moments on film.
Capturing Special Moments from Three to Four
At the age of three, your child has fully transformed from a baby to a little adult. As such, there are many big moments that take place at this time in his or her life. Some of these include:
Your three-year-old will likely want to help you in every way possible, but will still be trying to make sense out of his or her world by playing make believe games. Foster this natural instinct to help and to follow in your footsteps as you document it in your child’s memory book.
Capturing Special Moments from Four to Five
You will certainly be amazed by the things your four-year-old is capable of doing. By now, he or she should have some pretty well-developed fine and gross motor skills, which means your child can engage in all kinds of fun activities! During this stage in your child’s life, some moments you will certainly want to capture include:
Many parents begin exploring outside activities, such as sports and clubs, so be certain to capture those first days as well as the last days so you can document your child’s improvement and growth.
Capturing Moments from Five to Six
Turning five is a big moment in your child’s life, as he or she will soon be heading off to school and making many new friends. Therefore, there are many special events to capture this year.
Be certain to have your camera ready and a handkerchief handy as you watch your little boy or girl grow up and bravely walk onto that school bus!
Capturing Moments from Six to Seven
By the time your child has reached six-years-old, he or she will be really starting to learn and to socialize with peers. Some special moments to be certain to capture at this stage include:
At this stage, your child will likely be heavily involved in a number of different school activities, so be certain to capture them as much as possible so you can remember every precious moment as your child ages.
