When taking a photo of a child, there are many approaches you can take.  Children are so dynamic and so full of emotion and personality, that any photo taken of a child should serve to capture that child in a special moment.  From photographing a child in a way that captures his or her innocence to a photo that shows his or her energy and curiosity, there are a number of different poses and angles you might want to consider when taking child photography.

Capturing the Innocence

Taking a child outdoors and allowing the natural light to help create a dreamlike feel can be an excellent way to capture a child’s sweet innocence.  In the photo below, the subject doesn’t have to look at the camera or strike a static pose.  Rather, her sweet innocence as she inspects a blade of grass is a beautiful reminder of how special children are.

O Human Child

Innocence can also be captured by photographing a child that is deep in thought or otherwise caught in the moment.  Often, children ham it up when they see a camera.  Yet, some of the sweetest moments are captured when the child doesn’t even know a camera is there, such as in the photo below.

Capturing the Curiosity

Often, capturing the child’s innocence goes hand-in-hand with capturing a child’s curiosity.  In the photo below, for example, the little girl’s quiet solitude shows how, just as with adults, children can also enjoy a moment of alone time.  At the same time, it shows her curiosity about the nature around her.

Capturing the Energy

When taking photos of children, there is no better place to capture their boundless energy than to let them explore the great outdoors.  The picture below is a beautiful reminder of how children can conquer anything they set out to do.
