Family Car Stickers are the New “Baby on Board!”
Remember starting in the early 90’s how just about everybody with a baby proudly displayed the “Baby on Board!” sign in the family car? Well I for one was not a fan of these signs. The Baby on Board trend effectively ended when counter culture folks came up with disturbing versions of the same sign. Why not have a little fun with it right? While that trend may have died down, thankfully a new and better one has emerged to take its place.
The newest trend is called Family Window Stickers and also goes by names like Personalized Family Car Decals and Custom Family Auto Decals. If you do a search on the internet, you will find countless companies selling them now and their popularity is growing by leaps and bounds. Over at CustomLabels4U they feature some of the most popular examples of the decals that can be customized. Take the example below. I think you all can guess who the kids of the family are here. Well in case you haven’t figured it out, our hypothetical family has 3 kids… two girls and one boy. The girls like balloons and jump rope and the boy is a soccer nut.
I have to admit this is really cute and I’m so close to buying one of these decals for our family car. But in these modern times it’s a little frightening what people might learn about you from an innocent illustration on your car. There are versions of the decals that feature children’s names and family names. With identity theft on the rise, I wouldn’t be surprised if some con artist out there is taking notes on the highway and profiling his next victims!
Love it or hate it, this trend is sure to continue. Heather over at A Mamas Blog has a hilarious blog rant on the stickers and I think it sums up how a lot of us more cynical types feel. I’ll leave you with this cute picture of a family behind the stickers.

Thanks for mentioning my post about the car family stickers, and I am SO glad you realized it was supposed to be funny. It is kind of a scarastic take on it.
I receive so many “hate” comments about that post- I have been called every name in the book and then some, and been told I have no life whatsoever, because of my “stance” on these stickers. Obviously, I don’t keep these comments on the blog.
It cracks me up that people get so serious about these stickers, and get so mad at me. It is nice when someone realizes the post is supposed to be my attempt at a dry sense of humor. :-)
Where can I get one of the Screaming Baby’s on Board? Now THAT I could go for. LOL!

Sure.. I have a dry sense of humor too. I feel the same way about the bumper stickers that say things like “My Kid is an Honor Student at [fill in the blank] Academy” and “Save the Planet” on H2 Hummers.

While you are giving out about it, the guy who makes the signs is banking the money. Or maybe he’s retired and doing good things with the mone or maybe he’s making good use of the spare time he has to do really nice things for charities and what not.
