In addition to scrapbooking your baby’s milestones and sweet smiles, documenting his relationships with his grandparents is very important. Grandparents are a special gift in your child’s life and scrapbooking that gift is something he will treasure for years to come.

First Meeting

When your baby’s grandparents met him for the first time, chances are it was an emotional meeting. Create a mini scrapbook to document the meetings. Keep it simple, focusing on pictures and words. In this mini album, I used simple coordinating patterned paper, cardstock and stamps. I converted the pictures to sepia to unify the colors throughout the album, as well as create a timeless feel. I also created several layouts about my son’s great-grandmothers meeting him for the first time, like the one below.

Special Moments

Whether your baby’s grandparents live nearby or hundreds of miles apart, when they are together, they will surely share special moments together. For example, when my son, Elias, was just a few weeks old, I took some photos of his Nana holding him before our flight back to Tennessee. The layout I created was very simple, but captures her love for him beautifully. Creating layouts chronicling moments like these are just as important as layouts about your baby’s development.

Holidays

Holidays are made extra special when a baby is around – and grandparents are there to enjoy the little one. Take time to scrapbook layouts of your baby during the holidays with his grandparents. From tasting gravy at Thanksgiving to presents at Christmas– scrapbooking those holiday moments of your baby and his grandparents is an important part of capturing the spirit of the holidays.

Grandparents are a blessing – be sure your scrapbooks include their stories and love for your baby. Someday, your child will be grateful to look through those photos and read your journaling.
