Picking the Perfect Angle for Infant Photographs
Whether you are a professional photographer or the proud parent of a new little bundle of joy, one of the most difficult aspects of taking a photo of an infant is capturing the right angle. After all, regardless of how adorable newborn infants may be, they also come with their own set of imperfections. From misshapen heads, to scratches to red bumps, there are many flaws that you may not want to capture in your photo. Therefore, the trick to picking up all of your newborn’s adorable features while leaving the imperfections hidden involves capturing the right angle for your photograph.
Getting at the Infant’s Level
One of the best ways to get a great photo of an infant is to get down low when taking the picture. By getting down on the floor with your newborn, you can capture a photograph that makes it look as if you have entered into the baby’s private little world. This results in a much more natural-looking photo that also captures your newborn’s sweet innocence.
To get at your baby’s level, don’t be afraid to get down on the floor, to crouch or to stoop. If you do, you will be thrilled by the results!
Taking a Close Up
Close up photos are another great way to create an intimate feeling while also focusing on only the cutest and cuddliest parts. As discussed in the Taking Memorable Newborn Photos post, focusing on parts of your baby such as his or her feet or hands can result in incredible photographs.
To take these close up photos, you can either physically move in closer to your child or use a longer focal length with your camera.
Lending a Helping Hand
You can also get a better angle for your photographs by getting someone to lend a hand. By having someone hold your baby up and in certain positions, you can capture the most adorable angle possible. With the help of someone else, you can place your baby in an upright position in order to snap a great photograph.
Other positions you might want to try is to lay your baby on his or her tummy, to lay your baby back on the holder’s arms or to have the holder place your baby over his or her shoulder.
